Shoreditch Sundays – Dinerama

Processed with VSCO with c1 preset

If you follow any of the media accounts of, or even have overheard amongst friends talks of ‘Street Feast London’, then you may have heard of Dinerama – a street food heaven right in the heart of Shoreditch.

With a layout consisting of both indoor and outdoor drinks and food stalls, and seated relaxing food and drink areas, Dinerama is a quirky and chilled setting that is definitely a must-visit whatever time of the day and whatever the occasion. With a large range of choice on the all important food-front, and pint sized cocktails for £10, you are sure to be satisfied!

Food from: Yum Bun (Bao Chicken Bun), Burger & Beyond, Club Mexicana

On the food front: I had a Crispy Chicken Bao Bun from Yum Bun and we shared ‘Beer-battered Cheeze Fries’ with sour ‘cream’ and chilli sauce from Club Mexicana which were the best cheese fries I have had – but also vegan (which Ed didn’t even realise!). They were delicious and really stood out for me in the ever increasing Vegan food market.

If you are after something sweet for afterwards – ‘You Doughnut’ is where it’s at. (I cannot locate my picture so check out their instagram!) These sweet and fluffy doughnut bites come in either a ‘Salted Peanut Popcorn Caramel’ variety or a ‘Malted Milk Chocolate’ variety. We went for the latter which consisted of vanilla doughnut bites with malted milk chocolate sauce, Maltesers, and malted milk crumble. For only £3 these were an excellent way to finish off on the food front.

On the drinks front:

There are many places to grab a drink at Dinerama, however the best views and atmosphere are from the upstairs bars, so I would either recommend getting your drinks from these to sit either inside or outside (or half in-half out), or taking your drinks up to the upstairs seating. In the evenings when all the multi-coloured lights are turned on the atmosphere really heads up a level. As I mentioned before, pint sized cocktails are available for £10, however, the picture above was a standard Elderflower Mojito from one of the downstairs stalls, which was still a very respectable size!

Before you go:

Before certain times on certain days, cut-off usually 5pm, entry is free – and after is £3, so if you are counting pennies but want those doughnuts, head over as early as possible!

Bluebird Chelsea Bliss

Bluebird Chelsea – interior

In the middle of the (seemingly now distant) London summer *heatwave*, we took a trip to Bluebird Chelsea for a friend’s birthday celebrations.

This was my first visit, and right from arrival I knew I would be back for more. There is a young, hip, vibrant yet oh so classy vibe, with interiors and exteriors to die for (inc. bathrooms!) In summer the outside blossoms and indoor plants look simply stunning, and add a touch of elegant originality.

As for the food, as it was a hot summer day we opted for small plates, however they were still exquisite. I had a poached duck egg with truffle on a bed of asparagus, which was divine, and very reasonable price wise as it did fill the hole in my stomach.

Drink wise, the cocktails were exquisite, but be expecting to pay prices at the top end of the cocktail spectrum, but for top end taste and look! Would definitely recommend sitting outside for drinks on the high tables by blossoms or the other tables which are either booths amongst the outside green box hedge or tables surrounded by flowers.

The vibe is addictive, you will almost certainly want to go back for more! (We planned our next visit for four days later.)

Happy Donuts Portobello

Is there anything more satisfying than freshly made doughnuts?! The answer is yes, freshly made doughnuts from Happy Donuts Portobello!

Situated along the famous Portobello Road, these doughnuts are a must-try after a long day exploring what Portobello Road or Notting Hill has to offer, or even if you haven’t – they are well worth a visit alone!

The doughnuts are freshly made in the morning, (get there early afternoon for the most fresh and delicious), and come in a huge variety. Check out their instagram (@happydonutsportobello) and website, (happy for a preview of the doughnuts and their best-sellers! (Guaranteed to make your mouth water.)

Having first been made aware of Happy Donuts by a blog I follow, both on here and on instagram, (@thelondondegree), I was then lucky enough to enter one of the giveaways on the blog and win a box of four of my choice! (Pictured from top left: Red Velvet, Ferrero Rocher, Strawberry and White Chocolate, and Oreo and Chocolate with Oreo Crumbs around the outside). However, for the size, taste, design and awesomeness, these doughnuts are definitely worth the very reasonable price you will find them at! They are in reality MUCH bigger than I imagined and as the picture shows!

Instagram Heaven in Hackney Wick – Palm Vaults

Rain or shine this unique retro pink paradise is sure to brighten up your day! (Check out @palmvaults on Instagram to see what all the hype is about!) The decor, vibes, coffee and cake are to die for! A further account of theirs is @palmvaultsvintage – if you are dying to explore more of their style!

A definite must-see for the East London resident, however, a warning for students – possibly slightly more pricey than you would initially expect, but definitely worth it for a treat after a long or crummy week!

Palm Vaults provides a menu perfect for healthy food lovers – juices and smoothie bowls to die for, (and an amazing choice of freshly made pink cakes for those who aren’t..) and vegetarians and vegans – including vegan pink cakes! I first went with my best friend who is vegan, and she said the cake was a definite 10.

The cafe also oozes charm, quirkiness, retro, plants and PINK and is perfect for instagram lovers and bloggers alike. For coffee lovers – the most popular instagram is the Pink Latte, however, the Rose Latte is also fabulous and equally instagram worthy.

However, they do not take reservations – so get yourself down there fast!

New Must-Visit – Farm Girl Cafe, Portobello Road

Since I moved to London, this cafe was all over my instagram feed from numerous accounts – therefore I soon followed the official cafe instagram account, (@farmgirlcafe) and became obsessed, without having visited!! The cafe is exclusively Vegetarian and Vegan, which is becoming more and more common throughout London.

When we arrived it was a lovely sunny day in Notting Hill, so we were lucky enough to sit outside, but the cafe is equally vibrant and enticing inside. Both the atmosphere, and food, (best avocado toast with pomegranate ever with a side of their unique coconut bacon) did not disappoint. The food and location are so aesthetically pleasing for both instagrammers and bloggers alike – I highly recommend the very popular rose latte, (although for a coffee lover, I was definitely spoilt for choice with the hot drinks menu!)

The venue perfectly captures the eclectic nature of Portobello road and the vibrancy of Notting Hill and is perfectly situated in order to spend the rest of the afternoon exploring what the area has to offer. A definite must-visit!!
